Yew River Table
In my adaptation of the river series by Greg Klassen, I decided that the ornate curvature of this pacific yew slab had to be preserved and left the focal point of attention. The slab is over 150 years old and was harvested in Squamish BC more than 30 years ago. It was originally 8' long and bowed quite significantly over the span. A metal frame provide enough support to pull the pieces straight and finish as a table top. After squaring the piece I routed a channel through the most pronounced curvature and laid the glass through to protect these beautiful shapes of nature. It was such a delight to work with this absolutely unique and rare species.
